Note: Course fees cover two classroom sessions, one pool session, and a debriefing of the results of the pool session. Open water dives are available at additional charge depending on where we do them.

First evening --To be announced...

The Basics of Photography:

Ø Exposure: Light, shutter speed, aperture, film speed

Ø Composition: Lens choices, subject, background, focus, lighting

Ø Copyright protection: How and why

 

Second evening -- To be announced...

Taking it Underwater:

Ø Effects of water on Light: Color, diffusion, refraction, backscatter

Ø Effects of Water on Divers: Resistance to motion, buoyancy and trim

Ø Effects of Water on Cameras: O-rings and maintenance, flooding

Ø Equipment Choices: Point and shoot, submersible, housed SLR, strobes, arms, trays

 

Pool Session -- (Date to be decided)

Take photos underwater! This is what it's all about! Test exposures and focusing at various distances with various lenses in a controlled setting. Use your equipment or use ours at no additional charge. You will need to pay for your own film and processing.

 

Third Evening -- (Date to be decided)

Ø Debriefing: Discuss photos and see what worked and what didn't. Decide what to try on the open water dives.

 

Open Water Dives (optional) -- (Date and location to be decided)

Dive in a real open water environment and take at least two different types of underwater photographs. Use your equipment or use ours at no additional charge. You will need to pay for your own film and processing.
